Thank you all for the wonderful things you had to say about my husband it was some comfort to read all your comments about him. He loved going to the boxing matches and enjoyed meeting all of you. He missed it so much when he got sick and could no longer attend and was one of the things he wanted to do again. He missed all of you a lot!
-Cheryl
You always had a smile on your face and a kind word - your dedication to USA Boxing was amazing – I’ll never forget the birthday card you sent to my daughter for her 16th birthday it made her smile ……I’ll miss you.

I am so sorry to hear about Ernie’s passing. I was only able to officiate a few shows with Ernie but he accepted me as a fellow official the first time I met him. My family’s thoughts and prayers are with you.
-Keith F. Greenberg
I was hapy to know this kind, mild mannered gentleman, who would travel from Sierra Vista in his little Ford Escort to various parts of the state often staying in trucker motels {where he felt comfortable} because thats the kind of guy Ernie was, regular Joe Schmoe; didn’t care alot about fancy hotels or the bar scene and was okay having a shot of tequila back at the room. We had some good times and onversations. Ding…Ding…Rest in Peace.
-Tony Alvidrez
Double ‘G’ you will be greatly missed. I have had all great memories working with you from Yuma to Fort Huachuca, from Tucson to Cottonwood. You always made the trip enjoyed working the boxing shows no matter where they were…….if you could have gained travel points, you would have enough to travel around the world for free. From Jana and I, and those from The All Army Boxing family that may not have the opportunity to submit here, our thoughts and prayers go out to the Double ‘G’ family. God Bless
-Tony Zaino
Ernie you will be miss!!!! With deepest sympathies to the family on the most difficult of times.
-Regards, Enrique Orci
I never met a kinder and more generous person then Ernie. He traveled farther then most at his own cost because he thought it was necessary to be part of helping the kids. A totally unselfish man that needs to be remebered for the legacy he left. I was proud to be his friend.
-Harvey Prezant
Love you man and your infectuous smile will be missed. You made the world a better place.

From the moment that a newcomer USA Boxing Official from Sierra Vista,AZ showed up in Yuma for one of the many Ringside Challenges that we hosted, all of us at Yuma County Youth boxing Association(1999-2010), knew that Mr. Ernie Boggs was a special member of the LBC 48 family of volunteer officials. That’s a long drive across the desert! YCYBA was use to having a combination of California(LBC44 & LBC 33) officials at our one day shows, however we didn’t expect to have Mr. Boggs there. Well the rest is history and etched into our collective memories. Ernie Boggs was there for the youth as all of us officials demonstrate with our dedication and generosity to make the competitions legal. No more days when coaches sat in our chairs to make an event official as was the case in the past. Ernie went onto to a become a HIGH TIDE MARKER for all of us to rise to. If we could only equal Mr. Boggs in his joyful tenacity to excel, or even come close to his mark, we can have piece of mind for doing a job well done. Life is about living not existing for those of us that gain some wisdom along our journey to the other side. Without the self confidence and self esteem one earns along the way all manners of poor decisions are made. We all are in a sport which prides itself as one that gives the youth an opportunity to lead fullfilling and meaningful lives. As a professional boxer, it is one hell of a hard way to earn a living, however perhaps 3 % of these youngsters are outstanding enough with the proper motivation to make a career of their athletic discipline at the amateur level. Ernie Boggs knew and respected all the athlete boxers, their coaches and fellow officials. It was a growing experience to work alongside him in Arizona and California. Now we are in the Philippines doing what we do….Olympic-Style boxing..we had a 10 count Friday, September 2, 2011 in honor of Ernie Boggs, attendance was 3,000 for our 11 bout card(mainly 4 rounders). We are fortunate to have his friendship.

On behalf of the Arizona Boxing and MMA Commission, we will miss the dedication and expertise of one of our family of licensed officials, Mr. Ernie Boggs.

Cheryl, I know some of what you’re feeling. Tom’s been gone 8 years and you never get over it. It will get a littler easier as you remember all the good times you had together in those 34 years. I didn’t know Ernie, but from what I’m reading I know he must have been a good man. My prayers are with you and your family.
-Linda/tlc
Ernie was one of the people you didn’t hear much about, but that are the heart and soul of our organization. I looked forward to working with him at the Army Championships each year. Another hole in the heart of our sport. I will miss you, Ernie.
-Spence Carpenter
I enjoyed the week we spent together in Denver for the 09 national championships. Ernie was like a brother but a truly good friend.
-Jere Grimes
The first time I met Ernie was at the Castlesports complex in August 2007. He was walking with a cane and had told me he had to get himself shot up with steroids to make the drive from Huachuca City to Phoenix. Then I saw him a month later in Prescott without a cane asking Richard if he could ref a few matches. He did ref that night and did a fine job doing so. I don’t know what kind of pain he was in but I do know he was as tough as they come. I will miss his company and miss seeing him with his grandson. Ernie Boggs was a great man.
-Andrew
Ernie touched my soul with his kind acceptance and understanding as I learned the “ropes”. He was always warm, friendly, polite and good humored. He cared deeply about being a good man and a good model for the other officials and the young boxers that he dedicated so much of his personal time and energy towards. There was only one Ernie and to say his constant presence will be missed is an understatement. I hope he is now in heaven as God’s boxing commissioner!
-Love to you Ernie. Roger Anderson
